Midwam immersive study

Study of techniques visible in the public Midwam site by Immersive Garden. Not an official Midwam case.

This page is a study, not an official Midwam case, and not my original artwork. Many models, textures, camera clips, and sounds used in the overlay are not mine. They were studied from files the original frontend makes public. I will take them down if a rights holder asks. Related essay: Inmersive experiences development Jorney
Around 2021 Midwam changed how I think about websites: not a page you read, a space you move through. I wanted to know if I could stand up a similar cinematic setup. This work is that evaluation, focused on the human, not a product catalog.
The overlay is a deconstruction of techniques that are visible once you look at the served bundle (GLB clips, section timelines, materials):
  • The human is the narrative object. Camera motion is not free orbit. It is authored.
  • camera.glb stores paired clips (step_cam / step_target). Scroll steps through those cuts.
  • A goto timeline per section drives lights, materials, and the spinner.
  • Human shaders: rotating environment map, chest glow, flow or veins, rim light, heart.
  • Hold or long-press intensifies the look (the Midwam case describes the same kind of hold).
  • Post (vignette, chromatic shift) and the spinning-top motif sit around the figure.
  • Layout numbers in the laboratory match the public human scale, not a redesign.
Enter from the cover. Scroll or swipe to move. Escape or the close control to leave. Text on this page and the overlay captions can be selected. The canvas cannot.
